$295 to $395?? That's quite a jump

It doesn't seem to me that they have any shortage of applicants, regardless of the fee!
As far as the fee increase, I do know that Badwater is quite an expensive race to put on. As I understand it, the Park Service has new regulations that require an ambulance on the course at all times. I know the expenses of that nature were a big part of the reason why there isn't an "official" alternative race. It's just too expensive to put on. But as long as the powers that be will allow solo runners, which is currently the case, it doesn't seem to make much difference. It's a shame the the "big race" has to be so expensive, but I guess it's just a fact of life we'll have to live with.

Perhaps not exactly a Badwater related message but...I can really understand the cost. Sure $395 sounds like a lot but I recently got a whole new appreciation for what it costs to put on a race. I will be organizing a 5K run within two months and I just found out what it costs and boy was I surprised!
