Hello all,

Just wondering if anyone has any info on Ben Jones Classic as an alternative to BW. Is it going to be held this year? Is there a web site and so on?

In 2005, the Ben Jones Classic was cancelled at the last minute, due to difficulties with obtaining the official permits. However, a number of people ran the UNOFFICIAL Badwater Solo Ultra. This NON-event was legal, and took place with the full knowledge of the Park Service and other authorities.

It looks like it is in the works again for 2006. See http://www.inyoultra.com/index.html for more information. As I understand it, you may start on any date during the July-August window, but it's a lot more fun if a bunch of people go at the same time. July 1st seems to be the consensus for this year, so far. You can also check the "Calendar" forum on this site to see when others are starting.
