I posted months ago looking for transportation to Badwater in late June and just wanted to let everyone know how my trip on the Lowest To Highest Trail went.  The 130 mile Lowest To Highest Trail was engineered as a backpacking route from Badwater to Whitney summit and is very rough in places.  A friend joined me and we ended up taking a leisurely six days in early June during unseasonably cool weather.  We set up six or so water caches along the route in advance.  The climb from the valley to the shoulder of Telescope Peak is the most sapping section.  It is very overgrown in the canyon and steep on the way to the ridge.  The orienteering is very basic throughout but I can no longer imagine myself running the trail within 48 hours.  However, if someone out there is looking for a challenge, all the info you need is at http://www.simblissity.net.  The pioneer of the route is available through that site and is extremely helpful.  The scenery is very diverse and the route much more interesting than the highway.  It's traffic and exhaust free as well.  I highly recommend the route but do doubt the feasibility of a two day ultra for all but the most elite.
