Hi

Hi

This is a duplicate of my posting in the previous topic - but I think it warrants is own space.

Anyone thinking of shooting for this summer please let it be known

I am tentatively planning to squeeze in a solo just before the actual race - perhaps the 8th - but I'm flexible at the moment. Possibly may be joined by 1 or more friends from Brazil also wanting to go solo. Any other interest out there?

Based on others experiences is it problematic trying to do a solo effort too close to the race in terms of crowds, hotel bookings etc. Advice appreciated.

cheers

Hi Doug,

I am looking at a solo crossing in the early weeks of August 2010.  My dates are not yet set, as I have just gotten a commitment for crew.

I have crewed a race crossing, done almost 75 miles as a pacer.  I've done many 100's, some extended time runs, am somewhat heat tolerant.  I am primarily a jogger, fast paced walker.  I'm figuring a 50 plus to to the Portal.

Am now looking at the logistics and costs.   Good luck on your solo.

Aloha,

Kamo

I have finalized the date for the solo run.  My crew and I will start the morning of July 17th at 7AM.  We will be staying at Furnace Creek the evening before.  I have 2 great crew members, but could always use one more.  If anyone is interested, please let me know.  Hope to hear about more solo's this summer!

Logged on to see if anyone has any current info on Solo Crossings this summer (2010). This will be my first summer in five years that I am not at Badwater for the Big Dance. I am taking my wife to Maui in trade for a solo shot next year. I will miss the excitment and friendship of the race being from Phoenix I wont miss the heat.
I see there is some shatter but nothing real current. Good luck to anyone giving it a shot.
Marcia thanks for keeping this site up.

Back from Maui in time to stare at the BW web cam for hours on in during the 2 and a half days of the race. Very exciting to race and great to see Jack finish what an inspiration.

Just checked back to see how solos are going. Looks like mye2anglz took off on July 17th any word on that attempt yet?

I hear there was a couple double crossing this year that just finished not to long ago.

Still kicking around the plans on trying the solo next year. Will see how things turn out. Got to try it!

The July 17th Solo was a no-go.
Do you know who did the Double? Was it in conjuction with the Big Race?

Spirit, thank you for thinking about me  Smiley     Due to having a beautiful and healthy baby boy on April 1st, and my lack of proper training the 2 months before and after, I had to cancel my plans.   As you all know, you can not go into BW trained 95% so I had to postpone the run.  I will be out there again!!!

Marcia: I've heard off two doubles and one quad. First double was along with the race (I forget the guys name, might be Marcio Villar do Amaral), second double is a solo by Bill Bradley and then Danny Westergaard is doing a quad including summits, his first leg was in the race. Danny is also doing Furnace Creek 508 bike race later this year. Last I heard Bill and Danny where both still on course.
